Chapter Eight Photosynthesis

Kristina Place

No description

Photosynthesis Regiont ouside the thylakoid membrane in chloraplast
Stroma Reconstruction of photosynthesis in which energy from ATP and NADPH is used to build high energy compounds such as sugars
Calvin-cycle Orginanisms, such as animals, cannot use the sun's energy directly.
Heterotroph Principal pigment of plants and other photosynthetic organisms
Autotroph Organisms, such as plants, which make there own food.
Pigment Restriction on photosynthesis that uses energy from light to product ATP and NADPH
Light-dependent-reaction Plants use the energy of sunlight to convert water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and high-energy carbohydrates.
Chlorophyll One of the principle chemical compounds that living things use to store energy
Thylakoid Large protein that uses energy from H ions to bind ADP and a phosphate group together to produce ATP
Adenosin-triphosphate Electron carrier involved in glycolysis
NADP  saclike body in chloroplasts made of photosynthetic membranes that cotain photosystems
ATP-synthase Light-absorbing colored molecules
