Sexual Orientation | | A system of oppression that benefits "straight"/heterosexual people at the expense of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people. Applies to attitudes, bias and discrimination in favor of heterosexual sexuality and relationships. It is the belief that every is or should be heterosexual. |
Lesbian | | The inner feelings of who a person is attracted to emotionally and/or physically, in relation to their own gender. |
Gender Identity | | An umbrella term used to describe a variety of conditions in which a person is born with reproductive and/or sexual anatomy that does not seem to fit within the medical definitions of "male" or "female". |
Gender Expression | | A social construct based on a set of cultural identities, expressions and roles - codified as "feminine" or "masculine" - that are assigned to people, based upon the interpretation of their bodies, and more specifically, their sexual and reproductive anatomy. |
Transgender | | A person's internal sense of being male, female, neither, both or other gender(s). |
Gay | | An umbrella term used to describe a sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression that does not conform to dominant societal norms. |

Biological Sex | | A person whose gender identity and/or expression are not aligned with the gender they were assigned at birth; often used as an umbrella term encompassing a large number of identities related to gender nonconformity. |
Cisgender | | A person whose gender identity and expression are aligned with the gender they were assigned at birth, |
Intersex | | A person who is emotionally and/or physically attracted to members of their own gender. |
Asexual | | A person who is female-identified and who is emotionally and/or physically attracted to other women. |
Genderqueer | | Determined by chromosomes (such as XX or XY), hormones, and internal and external genitalia, based on which we are assigned the gender of male or female at birth. |
Pansexual | | The multiple ways (behaviors, clothing, hair, voice, etc.,) in which a person may choose to communicate their gender to themselves and/or to others. |
