Centralisation The way in which the roles & responsibilities of management and employees are organised in a business
Atkinson's flexible firm describes the lines of authority within a business.
Decentralisation is the number of employees for whom a manager is responsible
De-layering There are 2 types of workers, the core workers and the peripheral workers.
Organisational Structure  Is the process of removing layers of management from the hierarchy of an organisation
Span of control  the management layers or supervision within an organisation.
Chain of Command decision-making is spread out to include more junior managers in the hierarchy
Hierarchy keep decision-making firmly at the top of the hierarchy (amongst the most senior management).
Flat structure More layers = more staff= higher cost
Tall structure Fewer layers= less staff= lower costs
